The 20-Minute Home Reset

A Simple Routine for Busy Days When Your Home Feels Overwhelming

Have you ever looked around your house and thought…

“Where do I even start?”

I know I have.

When life gets busy, it’s easy to think we need an entire Saturday (and a whole lot of motivation!) to get our homes back under control. But the truth is, most of us don’t have an entire Saturday to spare.

That’s why I’ve become a big believer in the 20-minute reset.

Instead of waiting for the “perfect” time, I simply set a timer for 20 minutes and focus on one area.

Some days I surprise myself with how much I get done.

Other days I only finish half the project—and that’s okay too.

Progress is always better than waiting for perfection.

Perfect! This week’s 20-Minute Reset Challenge is a great way to start checking items off your list.

Haven’t downloaded it yet?

Why 20 Minutes?

Twenty minutes feels manageable.

It’s long enough to make a noticeable difference but short enough that you don’t talk yourself out of getting started.

The goal isn’t to clean your entire house.

The goal is simply to build momentum.

Minute 1–5

Clear the Clutter

Grab a laundry basket or tote.

Walk through the room and quickly collect anything that doesn’t belong there.

Don’t stop to put things away yet.

Just gather them.

Minute 6–10

Put Things Back Where They Belong

Now take everything from your basket and return it to its proper place.

If something doesn’t have a home, make a quick decision:

Keep it.

Donate it.

Or throw it away.

Minute 11–15

Wipe Down Surfaces

Choose the surfaces you use every day.

Kitchen counters.

Bathroom vanity.

Coffee table.

Kitchen table (my usual trouble spot 😉).

A quick wipe-down instantly makes the room feel refreshed.

Minute 16–20

Finish Strong

Take out the trash.

Fluff the pillows.

Straighten a blanket.

Light a candle.

Turn on your favorite playlist.

Do one small thing that helps your home feel peaceful again.

Sometimes it’s those finishing touches that make all the difference.

💕 Haley’s Tip

Don’t stop if you’re in the middle of a project because you “haven’t finished.”

Celebrate what you did accomplish.

A cleaner kitchen table.

An organized pantry shelf.

A decluttered entryway.

Those little wins create momentum, and momentum is what turns small habits into lasting routines.

🌸 Haley’s 20-Minute Challenge

This week, choose one room.

Set a timer for 20 minutes.

When the timer goes off…

Stop.

Whether you finished or not, take a moment to appreciate the progress you made.

Then I’d love to hear from you!

What’s the first space you’re going to tackle?

Hit reply to this month’s email or leave a comment on the blog. I’d love to cheer you on!

Remember…

Your home doesn’t have to be perfect to be a place you love.

Sometimes twenty minutes is all it takes to make a house feel a little more like home.
